Road Construction Aug 31 - Sept 30
The City of Mount Pleasant has alerted Bark Park users that for the month of September, we won't be able to access the Park from River Road. The bridge over Mission Creek will be under construction from August 31 to September 30. Park users will have to use Crawford Road from Pickard Street.
Coming Soon: Play Equipment
The Friends of the Dog Park are always looking forward, working together to improve the Park. We help to keep it as an asset to the Mount Pleasant area community, and to maintain it as a place where dogs can become better citizens by socializing in a safe, well-equipped environment. Now we're looking at options for adding playground equipment designed specifically for dogs. Please watch for news about how you can help.
Outbreak of Parvovirus
An outbreak of Parvovirus has occurred in Northern Lower Michigan. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) encourages all dog owners to take the following steps to protect their animals:
• Keep up with routine vaccinations by ensuring dogs/puppies are vaccinated against canine parvovirus, rabies, canine distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, and leptospirosis by a veterinarian.
• Have dogs/puppies fully vaccinated before interacting with other animals to keep them healthy and safe. • Keep dogs/puppies at home and away from other dogs if they are exhibiting any signs of illness and contact your veterinarian. • Be sure to clean up after your pet when you’re walking them in public. Canine parvovirus is NOT contagious to people or other species of domestic animals. |
The LIGHTS ARE ON at Hannah's Bark Park!
The lighting project is complete and the lights are up and operating! Thank you to everyone who has contributed! Support came from the City of Mount Pleasant, the Charter Township of Union and the Mount Pleasant Area Community Foundation. Specific funds within the Foundation that helped us are the John Neyer Family Fund, the Fabiano Family Fund and the Schafer Community Impact Fund. Without this support we would not have been able to move forward with the project. We would also like to thank Soldan's Pet Supply of Mount Pleasant for allowing us to have collection boxes on their check out counters.
We especially acknowledge these five gifts, each sponsoring a light pole:
