Hannah's Story
"She was the type of person who would always brighten up a day." |
Hannah Rosemary Simons-Scalise died in 2011 after battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
She had a final gift for her favorite furry friends. She insisted that the money put aside for her funeral be used to build a dog park instead. The Friends of the Dog Park non-profit formed in November of 2012 to fulfill Hannah’s wishes. The City Commission's confirmed the name of the Mission Creek dog park will be "Hannah's Bark Park" in a unanimous vote at the August 11, 2014 meeting. Earlier, the Union Township Board and the Friends of the Dog Park Board did the same. A resolution to that effect was read by Sharon Tillman to Hannah's parents, Lynn Simons and John Scalise. |
